Welcome from the Head of School

 Dear Discovery Parents:

The beginning of a new school year, like the dawning of a new day, reminds us that the future holds infinite possibilities.  I hope that your summer was relaxing because you deserve it.  The opportunity to refuel over the summer is a necessary component of the important work that you do.  Your mental well-being is just if not more important than your physical state.  I know that we are about to begin a great school year filled with hope, vision, and excitement.  As we begin this new year, I wish everyone the greatest success as we welcome our new students to their educational journey at Discovery Academy.

This year will continue to be shaped by the current pandemic and various tragedies that have taken place around the world.  First and foremost, the health and safety, as well as, the social and emotional development of our staff, students and families will remain our first priority. Our students need our wisdom and our care.  Our parents need our support and guidance.  I know that we will exceed any and all expectations.  I know each of us wants to and will make a difference in the lives of our students.

This is a monumental year for us at Discovery Academy.  Our accomplishments and growth have been well documented during our seven-year history and this year will be no exception.  We will have a clear focus this year on teaching and learning.  Teacher and Lesson Expectations will be modeled and defined.  We have two new administrators who will be guiding and mentoring you through this process.  We will approach each day and each lesson with the same approach.

Clearly, it is a year of great ambition and promise.  Henry Ford once said, “If you think you can do a thing or you think you can’t, you’re right.”  I know that we can meet all of our student and family’s needs because we have a faculty and staff that believes in the promise of educational excellence.  We know that we have work to do, work that requires commitment, focus and collaboration and we know that we will succeed.

In closing, please let me state that I am honored to be the Head of Schools at Discovery Academy.  I want to welcome our new and returning staff to the 2021-2022 school year. My door is always open.   I am confident that we will create a year of success and accomplishment together.

I look forward to a year filled with stories of great success and great learning.

Regards,

Scott
