Design & Fabrication: Woodworking with the Scroll Saw
July 17, 2019
1:00 – 4:00 pm
Age: entering 5th through 8th grades

The scroll saw is a safe and easy entry into basic woodworking, allowing kids to experience the process of designing and fabricating simple objects from wood. During this workshop, campers will create a puzzle, toy, wall art, ornament, …or whatever springs from their imagination…using a basic scroll saw. Materials and equipment provided.

Design & Storytelling: Stop Motion Animation

What do King Kong, Gumby, Jack Skellington, Wallace and Gromit, the Terminator, Fantastic Mr. Fox, and the Boxtrolls have in common? They are all characters brought to life by stop motion animation. Channel your inner Tim Burton from story creation to animation during this “enlivening” workshop. Computers, software and props provided. Any camper may bring their own props to use, and if desired, their own device pre-loaded with “Stop Motion Studio.”

The Art of Code: Games and Art with the Sphero Robot

What if you could control BB-8 from Star Wars? Well, during this workshop, you’ll learn how to use remote control, written code, or even your face to make BB-8-like Sphero robots run obstacle courses, interact with other robots, and even make paintings! Really learn how to think outside the box with this super-cool spherical bot. Equipment and materials provided.

Art in the Outdoors: Botanical Illustration

th through 8th grades

Explore new territory as we take campers adventuring into the natural landscape, collecting plants and other natural items, using digital magnification to see new detail, and learning how to make botanical illustrations from a professional artist. All equipment and materials provided. Campers are welcome to bring and use their own sketchbooks if they’d like.
