High School Summer Art Camp

.Program Description: This week long art program will take high school art enthusiasts skills to the next level. This program is available to entering 8th-12th grade students. The week will focus on water-based mediums as well as practice drawing techniques. Students will go to local parks to paint, visit local galleries, as well as have advanced level studio instruction. Students will learn new approaches to art and create some masterpieces of their own!

About the Instructor: Kate Riley (Discovery Academy Art teacher) will be running the Discovery Summer Art Program. In addition to Kate’s fine arts training and artist residency programs, she has been on the studio portfolio review committee, for incoming freshman portfolios at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. As an artist Kate has exhibited her paintings and photography work in galleries along the North Shore as well as south western Montana. Outside of teaching Kate has also worked at the Institute of Contemporary Art, and has curatorial experience at the Herter art Gallery, Howard Art Project as well as many local galleries. Time: Monday-Friday. 9:30am-2pm.

Dates: 1 week. June 15th-19th.

Price: $235 plus a $50 materials fee. 

The program cost includes supplies, week of instruction, and art location trips. However, students especially at a high school level, are always encouraged to be using their own art materials for continued use and practice.
