The purpose of the PAC is to uphold the school’s mission and to support and enhance the education of the children at BSDA. The primary goal of the PAC is to help initiate positive changes on behalf of the school’s parents. Working together with the administration, the Parent Action Committee has the opportunity to make BSDA even better and to make our children’s school experience the best it can be.

PAC holds meetings throughout the year to focus on community involvement, fundraising, and BSDA program enhancement.

There are many opportunities for parents to volunteer in their child’s classroom and for BSDA. Parents can represent the class via PAC, as chaperones on field trips, or by helping in the classroom. Additionally, parents can contribute healthy snacks to our Snack Partners program.

Our Visiting Artists series exposes our elementary and middle schools students to area artists ranging from photographers and painters to jewelry makers and graphic designers. Each series lasts from 4 to 6 weeks and allows students to learn about art as a profession as well as expand their creative outlets.

The annual Holiday Home Tour is our largest fundraiser event benefitting Big Sky Discovery Academy and Community Learning Center.  It incorporates a festive tour of several Big Sky area residences, featured for their mountain architecture and décor.  The event also includes a Holiday Bazaar featuring local art, crafts, jewelry and other Montana made gifts and products.  100% of the proceeds benefits Discovery Academy, a 501(c)3 organization.

Discovery Ski and Snow Sports Program is an enrichment option for physical education. Students learn about skier etiquette, team work, confidence, and life sport appreciation weekly at Big Sky Resort throughout the ski season.

Additionally, Nordic skiing and ice skating for elementary and middle school students are incorporated as winter recess options during the snowy season.
